Those of you who followed the original 4chan Anonymous hackers, grey-hat hackers, and leakers of the early 2010s will likely remember Barrett Brown, the journalist and information activist who went to prison for sharing leaked information.
I started reading his book, My Glorious Defeats: Hacktivist, Narcissist, Anonymous: A Memoir, which he wrote from prison. This has led me on an internet research quest into any documentaries and media clips on Brown. Below is a list of 5 documentaries to add to your own Barrett Brown media playlist.
1. The Hacker Wars (2014)
Directed by Vivien Lesnik Weisman, The Hacker Wars follows three central figures, Barrett Brown, Jeremy Hammond, and Andrew “weev” Auernheimer, as they navigate the intersection of hacktivism, government surveillance, and the crumbling Fourth Estate (the power of the press).
